Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles: Since 1877

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles Chapter (spcaLA) has been around sicne 1877. They work to place abused and homeless animals in loving homes and they work to stop animal cruelty altogether.

Ensuring Equality for Our Furry Friends

Through humane education, dog training, a pet hotel, and law enforcement efforts, the spcaLA is making progress by providing humane lifestyles for many animals. The law enforcement division investigates cruelty cases and prosecutes people who neglect and/or abuse animals in California. Through providing medical attention, returning lost animals to their owners, or finding them caring homes, the spcaLA division has worked to relieve the distress of helpless animals in difficult situations.

SPCA Human Officers can make arrests, issue citations, file criminal charges, serve warrants, and provide relief to animals through DART (Disaster Animal Response Team) and through the Humane Education department. They are truly enforcers of animal equality.
