Los Angeles Animal Services: Promoting the Welfare of Animals and People

We envision the day when every pet born has a good home and is cared for all its life, and no person is ever endangered by an animal.
The Los Angeles Animal Services push for the humane treatment of animals and humans through respect, trust, honest communication and humane treatment.
Their services include adopting a pet, finding a lost pet, searching for animal identification, permits, animal cruelty complaints, animal licenses, vaccinations, spay and neuter information, stray cats, microchipping, dangerous animals, and small animal rescue (SmaRT).
Animal Cruelty Task Force
The Animal Cruelty Task Force investigates and prosecutes animal cruelty cases. People who impose cruelty on animals generally have sociopathic behavior, and a serious lack of responsibility and and conscience. ACTF combines the forces of Animal Control Officers, the LAPD, and the City Attorney’s Office to investigate the most terrible cases of animal cruelty including beatings, dog and cock fights, poisonings, and other abuses.
Do you need to report an instance of animal cruelty?
Contact the Animal Cruelty Task Force at 213-486-0450 or the LA Animal Services at 888-452-7381. The Animal Services staff will make sure to investigate any case that is reported. In 2006, the task force investigated 290 reports and made 15 felony arrests.
